Meh-meh

Happy meh-meh year everyone!
Hope everyone had a great one, feasting on those cny goodies and collecting loads of angpows :D

CNY, this year, was something that I looked forward to. Not because of angpows, goodies or to dress nicely, but because it's finally rest time for me. Early Feb till CNY was purely school and work (events and shoots) every single day, including weekends. When I was off-duty, I had to rush presentation slides and get errands done. Exhausted max. And few days ago, I was unlucky enough to catch the fever bug :/

But still, I had a great one with my loved ones and even managed to go for a short getaway in Desaru, Malaysia :)

My newfound love

That's right, I found another living being that is worth my unlimited love, my fullest attention, meticulous caring and whatever young-motherly feeling I have now. She is the joy of my life at the moment. The one reason why I always look forward to going home once the clock strikes 6pm. (As mentioned before, I'm currently working just like any working adults with the fixed routine of 9-6pm office-bound job.)

So who / what is that living being? A BABY?! O.O

Oh yes, she is a baby that's right!
Proudly presenting to you, my newfound love...
HAMMY :)

Her first picture when we first welcomed her to a new environment - my home :)

Yeah, her name totally sounds like her kind - Hamster, but well, according to Eugene, she somewhat reacts to this name or either way, the word "Hamster". So why bother creating a new name that she won't react to right? And tada, Hammy is her name!

She came to me on the 15th of June, with the age of 3 months old. You may ask, why is she so big then? That's because she is a SYRIAN hamster and hamsters of this breed are usually much bigger-sized than the others. Initially, I was confused whether I should keep a pet or not, and if I should keep such a BIG hamster. I was also afraid the hamster cage that I have at home would give her stress due to little space. Ya, so many worries for just a little hamster because I know her life will be part of my responsibility. I definitely wouldn't want to see her suffer or die so early.

This was taken a few days after she slowly gotten used to my family and the environment but yet, feeling a little shy. But surprisingly, she was quite comfortable with me. After finding a nice comfy spot on my dress (the grey background is my dress!), she started munching on her food which she kept inside her mouth when we fed her. Eugene says she trusts me hehe, well, how true is that, we don't know :D

As usual, if you followed me on Instagram, you would have seen this picture about her trying to get into her food paradise. She is a smarty hammy. She would figure her way to get what she wants and whenever she wants food, she will climb into my folded legs, stand on her legs and look at me with her big eyes. Those moments would always make my heart flutter, aww. She knows by doing that, for sure, it would entitle her to food. Once she is satisfied, she will start crawling out from my legs and play. Smart right!

Then recently, she became very tired. This is a picture of her sleeping after running a few rounds on the sofa. Usually when she is out from her cage, she will make use of the chance to explore the entire place and if possible, hide away from us haha. But not recently. She ran a few rounds around me, then she would stop and start to doze off. I have a video of her sleeping but just can't find a way to upload it here. Geesh, next time!

This is her, after finding a comfortable spot to sleep against my dress.

So far she is the one living being that my entire family and Eugene's family adores. She even got to spend a short vacation in Eugene's house for few days haha. But there's one thing we are super afraid of and that is somehow she managed to get out of the cage with the cage locked up! It has happened three times so far! Thank goodness, she has not make up her mind to hide away from us and she would react to her name when my parents called out for her. Phew. And we are still investigating how she managed to get out from the cage.

I have lots of photos and other videos of her in my phone, but for now, this shall serve as a short introduction of my baby hammy. Cute right? So in love with this mischievious smarty hammy.

Process of Ah Boy to Man

Hello people, have you all been enjoying life??? :)

For me, I have been enjoying life ever since my finals were over. Heading out almost every single day, doing things that I've been wanting to do but yet couldn't be accomplished due to exams. And in fact, I'm starting to feel a little bored hahaha. Well, Singapore really has nothing much to do/explore and with the unpredictable weather like this, I can't plan a picnic or any outdoor outings. Hais.

Maybe I should go on an overseas trip, so that I won't feel as bored staying in SG. Haha.
And just last Thursday, I did left our dear homeland for a short 4 hours to Pulau Tekong.
Obviously, I wasn't there for a holiday but to send my younger brother off to his new phase in life - Army.

It was my second time stepping on Pulau Tekong's shores. And this time round, I experienced a different type of feeling as I bid goodbye to my brother. The feeling of being proud of my younger brother who would be embracing his next phase in life and I'm looking forward to see him change into a young, mature gentleman. I guess I felt more sad and reluctant to leave my bf 2 years ago.

It has been a week and I kinda miss my brother now. No one to argue with, watch anime (only interested in one anime) and to talk nonsense blah blah blah. But on a brighter side, he will be back in 6 days time! Woohoo! I figured he would be tanner after all the vigorous training under the sun.

Taking the chance to take pictures with him while waiting to board the bus

All the boys gathered in front of their family members.

Spotted this big mirror and I couldn't resist taking a picture of us hehe.
A large mirror for the vain guys. HAHA.

In my next few posts, I shall, hopefully, blog about my prawning experiences and also, my shopping craze.
Talking about shopping, I'm recently trying to find a simple, small sling bag.
If any of you happens to know anyone or any place that is selling such bags, do let me know ya!
Have been trying to find one but none of them seems to catch my attention yet :(

Happy Mother's Day

Today is the special day that we, as children, would thank our mother for her efforts, patience, love and care for the past few years. How she has been taking care of our daily needs, be it cooking for three meals/tea break/supper or washing our huge lump of dirty clothes or cleaning the entire house etc. They do not only need to act like domestic helper, but as well as accountant, baby-sitter, emotional pillar and as well as a teacher! Those sacrifices of being pretty office ladies to 黄脸婆 (a term that is often used to describe housewives) is worth our gratefulness for life.

My mum is exactly like what I've mentioned above. To her, and I believe to most mothers, family is everything. It's her top priority; something that is much important than her own personal needs. She is happy when everybody in the family is happy, and upset when any one of us is feeling sad.

So I would just like to use this space to let her know that I'm fully aware of her efforts for the family and I appreciate whatever she does. Although I get angry/annoyed at her at times, I still love her and would always reprimand myself for saying hurtful words to her. So, Mummy, thank you for these 21 years. I promise you and myself that I will be a much better daughter and try to bring lots of laughters in your life and not tears or anger :)

And of course, to my grandmother too!
And this is the first photo that I've ever taken with my grandma.
More to come!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS IN THE WORLD :)

CNY

XIN NIAN KUAI LE!

Today is the 10th day so I'm still not too late for this post :) My nightmare of the semester has started ever since the short CNY holiday ended. Rushing for deadlines (next week) and have to study for mid-terms that would be 2 weeks from now. Thus, this explains the super late post on CNY but late better than nothing. Hahaha.

CNY this year is just like what I had in the past few years. Nothing much has changed. Reunion dinner, same house-visiting routine, getting angbaos, eating goodies, photo-taking and not to miss, gambling. The only thing that has changed for me this year is I'm much closer to my paternal baby cousins. I only meet them like once a year during CNY and therefore, they are generally not close to me except for one of the girls. But after this year, they are no longer that shy and would not hide behind their parents whenever they see me or my brothers. Hahaha.

Remember in my previous post, I said I would reveal what was the theme I set for myself for CNY 2013? :) Well, I shall reveal it now. This year, I decided to go for a...

PLAITS THEME

Yes, that means hair styling and I started experimenting on different hair styles 2 weeks before CNY. I'm never that good with hair styling especially plaits and I never tie plaits for at least 10 years? Very long, I know. But oh well, I decided to give myself some challenge this year and there it is.

CNY DAY 1

I went over to my relatives on my paternal side and this was my OOTD: VauntCloset's Elena Laced Dress in Pink
Got the cheongsum feel right??? :D

My aunt loved this dress and was asking me where to get it. Too bad, it was already sold out on VC's website, else I would recommend her to go there and get it. Anyway, Clarice (owner of VC) wore the same dress as me on the first day. What a coincidental!

This is what I did to my hair:

The plaits were not super define and it kinda came loose after the first round of visiting :( The concept is to tie 2 plaits, each starting from the portion near your forehead till you reach the center of the back of your head. Then criss-cross both plaits and pin them with as many bobby pins as you like.

Second stop, I went over to my aunt's house and that is where I would meet my baby cousins every year. While waiting for them, I saw this cute panda chocolate sweet. Cute right!

A photo with my mummy. It was her birthday that day! Too bad, I can't get any cake on the actual day but she got a dinner treat from my brother on the second day which was her lunar birthday as well.

Then my adorable baby cousins...

Pretty girls and handsome boy. They are not afraid of me anymore and were even playing around with me haha. Hopefully it stays the same for next year :) I still have another pair of twin baby cousins. Didn't manage to get photos of them as babies are generally more shy. Next year must snap pictures of them.

Then, a family photo from my paternal side to end CNY day 1

CNY DAY 2

Went over to my grandma's house and this was my OOTD

My hairstyle of the day: Bun with plaits

This hairstyle was more successful as compared to day 1 and together, with the pink ribbon clip that my boyfriend picked, doesn't it look simple and sweet? :)

Photos of my maternal cousins, nephew and niece

Day 2 would have ended with just one house-visiting but this year, my clique decided to gather on the second day to have our annual CNY gathering at Matt's house with steamboat and grill for dinner!

We girls would never fail to camwhore, especially on special occasions/festive, so here goes:

Solo picture of us:

Last but not least, my fav boy

My fav boy and I have a yearly exchange of angbaos. I believe we are one of those few couples to do such things, right? Because I myself never heard or seen any couple doing such things beside us but I cannot claim that we are definitely the first ah. Lol. At least this is one of the unique things we do that separate us from other couples around us ^^

Our 2nd yearly exchange

I customized the above "red packet" for him because according to his dad, he couldn't celebrate CNY due to his grandpa's death late last year. I do not know what are the can/cannot-do-things such that it won't be offensive towards his late grandpa and his family, so to be safe, I customize the entire red packet from the exterior to the interior.

And this is from him to me :)

So this marks the end of the short holidays that I had and I enjoyed every single bit of it! I hope in the year of Snake, everything will go smoothly for me and my loved ones would be in their pink of health. Get rid of all the bad luck and may everyone be happy! :)

ONCE AGAIN, HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR TO ALL!
